Our aim is to make our pupils as fit, healthy and active as possible both in school and out of
school.  With this in mind we invited our local hurling club ‘Rahoon / Newcastle GAA’ members
to visit our school to teach hurling skills to our junior classes each week on our astroturf pitch.
Similarly we also invite members of our local gaelic football club ‘St. Michaels GAA’ to visit our
school to teach our junior classes some football skills throughout the school year.
This helps to not only promote health and fitness within our school grounds but it also
promotes these local sports clubs in the hope that our students will become active members of
these and other sports clubs in their locality.
We have also partnered with our Amber Flag initiatives promoting a healthy mind and body
through regular exercise. This partnership is highlighted on our Amber Flag display board in our
school corridor.
